What is Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA)?
The Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) governs the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data by agencies for legitimate business purposes in a manner that recognises volunteers’ rights and the needs of organisations to use such personal data for legitimate business purposes.
Key things to take note of when collecting personal data

Consider if it is reasonable to request their personal data. Reasonable requests include name, address, phone numbers, etc. Unreasonable requests include their family’s medical history.

Obtain volunteers’ consent to collect, use or disclose their data. Take note that they must be allowed to withdraw consent at any time. Organisations must only collect, use or disclose personal data only for the purposes for which the consent was obtained.

Notify the volunteers of your purpose for collecting, using or disclosing their personal data.
