NEEDS, SCOPING & RECRUITMENT

Involve current volunteers in the interview process

During the first interview with new potential volunteers, bring current volunteers on board to make the experience less intimidating for the new volunteers. Current volunteers have the relevant experience and on-the-ground knowledge to help determine if an applicant is suitable for the role in the organisation. During the first interview, bring current volunteers onboard to make the experience less intimidating for the new volunteers.

Hearing from current volunteers about the volunteering roles may also be more relevant and relatable for potential volunteers, concurrently giving them a chance to get accustomed to some faces in the opportunity.

Another benefit of this arrangement is that potential volunteers who are also the interviewees can see opportunities for growth in your organisation. Seeing as they were interviewed by a fellow volunteer, they may also aspire to be a volunteer interviewer in the future as well.
