ENGAGEMENT
Diversify volunteer opportunities

Volunteers come from all walks of life with a range of schedules and availability. While you might not be able to cater to every volunteer’s schedule and preferred role, one way to circumvent this is to diversify volunteering opportunities to have them on different days of the week at different timings to provide volunteers with more options in terms of scheduling their volunteering activities. For example, tutoring opportunities could open up and be held on weekday afternoons and evenings, and weekends subjected to the availability of the particular service-user.
Use a timetable and place it visibly on the website or social media pages so that volunteers can identify immediately if they are available for any of the programmes.

Pro-tip: Use different types of targeting for programmes hosted on different days! Here is a list of who you should look out for to engage programmes of varying time commitments.
For Weekends | Consider Working Adults and Full-time students |
For Weekday Nights | Consider Full-time students, especially during the holiday seasons |
For Weekday Afternoons | Consider Retirees, Homemakers, Tertiary Students with flexible school schedules |
