Explore opportunities to volunteer as a family

With family commitments being one of the top barriers to volunteering, explore creating activities that involves the whole family!

 

Similar to bring-your-child-to-work days in companies, you can host family day events or family volunteering opportunities where existing volunteers can introduce their family members to the organisation they are volunteering at. This encourages and influences family members to volunteer together, reinforcing engagement with volunteers and providing an added opportunity as a recruitment channel for more volunteers.

Here’s what you could do:

  1. Set designated day of a year for family day. It could be in conjunction with a particular celebration like Christmas or year end celebrations

  2. Plan for family volunteering opportunities or programmes before the family day. This way, you can set up booths or QR code for application forms to directly inspire families to volunteer together. The higher turn up for a fun event can be used to your advantage to reach out to a larger pool of people.
