Offer flexible training days

One thing to take note is volunteers often have a busy schedule and are only willing to volunteer in their free time. If there is only one training day planned and announced at the last minute, the likelihood of volunteers not being able to make it will be high. Try having more than one training day planned such that volunteers have options!
To implement this, consider posting your organisation’s calendar online or on social media where volunteers can refer to it with ease and clarity. The calendar can include key fixed dates such as:

Volunteer training dates

Volunteer appreciation events

Volunteering activities

Other events that require high volunteer attendance
Having these promulgated early will ensure that volunteers will be able to block out these dates and attend these events! If they are unable to make it, they can also be reminded of the next one. Be sure to also set reminders leading up to the date to ensure volunteers are aware of the important dates.
