EXIT & POST-EXIT
Connect with your volunteers on a personal level

A volunteer’s journey can extend beyond his or her time in an organisation. Hence, it is beneficial for organisations to look past their agency and engage with volunteers in an informal setting.

One way to do so is to keep in touch with your fellow volunteers on your personal social media accounts! We are sure that during their time at your organisation, you have fostered a stronger bond with your volunteers. A great way to stay in touch can be through your personal social pages. Not only does it allow volunteers to go beyond your volunteer-staff dynamic,
it also helps to foster deeper friendships beyond the organisation. Ex-volunteers can view any updates on the organisation in a light-hearted sharing on your personal page even though they might have left, removing the ‘spam’ effect volunteers may feel when following an organisation’s platform instead.

Take note that this is only applicable if both volunteers & staff are open to the idea. Your personal life should be a safe space to form deeper connections with others.
