ONBOARDING & TRAINING
Host Refresher Trainings

Training is typically for new volunteers with courses starting from scratch. These beginner lessons are perfect for those that are completely new to this volunteer opportunity. However, returning volunteers may find these lessons repetitive and dull having been through it once. Yet, they may not be adequately equipped to take on the roles immediately.

Here are some ways you can re-engage the returning crowd and whip them into shape for their tasks:
1. You can explore the option of combining them with the new crowd where old volunteers can refresh their memory while also making connections with the new pool of volunteers.

2. You may even engage current volunteers to take on the role of the trainer as a development opportunity to share more about the organisation and their experiences. Their on-the-ground role also creates a stronger basis for credibility. These developing volunteers can use refresher trainings as practise first, allowing a smaller, less intimidating crowd that is considered more knowledgeable than a new class.

3. Alternatively, you may explore creating training sessions that do not start completely from scratch and look to combine returning volunteers with the current for easier reintegration.
